Really, I'm not!

Seriously, I am not anti-feminist, I am not a male-chauvinist pig, I am not a misogynist or anything of the sort.  As a matter of fact, I love women.  I really do believe that they are more intelligent, stronger emotionally, more in tune with things around them and, of course, better looking than men.  Women are incredible.  They can do so many things and handle so many situations that would crush a man.

However!

Sometimes, this whole thing is just going too far.  I may take some guff from any woman who happens to read this particular post but I just have to speak up.  Iron Man is now Iron Woman?  A teenage girl?  Oh, come on, Marvel.

And let's talk about the Ghostbusters.  Okay, they ladies may be very funny in their roles but the original (guy) Ghostbusters just can't be improved upon.  No matter if you put a women in a man's role or a man in a woman's role you cannot improve on perfection.

So, here...let's try this.  Let's redo "Casablanca" with the role of Rick Blain played by Kim Catrall.  Or maybe we'll have Glenn Close play Rooster Cogburn in "True Grit".  Or how about we get, oh, I don't know...maybe Sandra Bullock to play "Rain Woman"?  Hey, for that matter let's remake "The Right Stuff" using all women actors and really fuck up history, huh?  Whatddya think?

I do realize that long ago in history, men played all the roles in stage productions, including those of the women' characters.  In film and stage history, there have been incredible actresses (even now it's not PC to call them that, they're 'actors', too).  However, sometimes there are roles that really can only be played by men and roles that can only be played by women.

We're ALL equal and as soon as those who feel less than equal start recognizing that we won't have to pound on the doors and windows and scream it out.   Then we really will be equal.

Bond.  Jamie Bond.
